Build Confidence, Find Companionship
A group for introverts overcoming social anxiety or dating anxiety
Online group therapy for social anxiety or dating anxiety in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout California, Arizona, Florida, and Colorado
You’ve always been a bit shy. Even as a kid, you worried that you weren’t…well, enough. Or that you were too much – perhaps you’ve always feared deep down that if you were truly you, people would run in the other direction.
You thought, “I’m just introverted…maybe I’ll grow out of it.” But the fears that haunted you as a kid – those worries that your peers, teachers, or crushes would judge and reject you – followed you into adulthood. You’ve simultaneously yearned for and feared relationships, leaving you frozen and isolated.
Friendships have felt hard if not impossible to build and maintain.
Speaking up to bosses and at team meetings sends you spinning for days at a time.
Parties are your worst nightmare.
And dating? Forget it.

Have an inner critic that won’t quit?
From morning to night, that critical voice in your head says things like:
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Pull yourself together!”
“I’m going to disappoint everyone.”
“No one likes me.”
“I’m going to be alone forever.”
Sometimes it feels like everyone but you got the How to Be a Confident/Not-Awkward Human manual.
Dating and social anxiety are way more common than your Inner Critic would like you to think.
They’re also treatable. We’ve seen hundreds of clients overcome their shyness and build lives filled with calm, confidence, and companionship with the help of group therapy.

-
Our group will have anywhere between 4 and 10 members. With absences, you can expect 2-8 participants at any given session.
-
All activities are voluntary. We encourage you to aim for “a stretch but not a struggle,” balancing risk with comfort. You’re welcome to sit quietly and “pass” as needed.

This group is for anyone struggling with EITHER social anxiety OR dating anxiety. Some of our group members feel anxious in dating situations, some get nervous when making friends or speaking up at work, and some feel anxious in all social and dating situations. In short, the group is helpful for ALL forms of social anxiety, including but not limited to dating anxiety.

We specialize in working with anxious, introverted adults who struggle to build meaningful relationships due to a lack of self-confidence. Our groups tend to attract participants from various backgrounds, genders, neurotypes, and ages. Notably, many of our clients are immigrants or the children of immigrants, highly sensitive people, BIPOC, AAPI, neurodivergents (including autistics and ADHDers), or LGBTQ+ folx.
-
The group will meet via Zoom.
-
Each session will include check-ins, accountability, skill-building activities, discussions, commitments, group business, and closure.
-
Practice is key to integrating new skills, so we include experiential activities in every group session. These may include mindfulness exercises, worksheets, group and partner discussions, and role-plays.
-
Skills and topics reviewed include:
Window of Tolerance
Mindfulness
Exposure therapy
Cognitive restructuring
Self-compassion

Neurodiverse folx such as autistics, ADHDers, and highly sensitive people experience social anxiety at high rates. Social anxiety is an adaptive and understandable response to navigating neurotypical systems as an ND individual.
Our group facilitator, Laia Pedreño Mateu, is dedicated to affirming neurodiversity and tailoring treatment to support neurodivergent individuals.
A significant concern for many neurodivergent folx is the shame they feel due to societal pressures and norms. In our group settings, while neurodivergence isn't a central topic unless raised by a member, our primary focus is crafting a safe space where individuals can openly discuss their experiences with anxiety, thereby reducing associated shame.
All group activities are voluntary, and members are encouraged to participate in whatever way works best for them. There is no pressure to mask or live up to neurotypical standards, so feel free to turn your camera off, limit eye contact, remain silent, etc.
We offer a skills-based approach that works for individuals of all neurotypes. This includes teaching proven techniques such as recognizing one's window of tolerance, cultivating self-compassion, and employing gentle exposure therapy. We're proud of the positive feedback we regularly receive regarding our inclusive approach.
